UI work here, but that's outside the scope of this ticket.
saves you exactly one click but otherwise works identically and even
the display in the views is the same, beside that you get "All day"
instead of "No time" in the tooltip.
I'm inclined to reject it, other opinions?
could see a bunch of reorganization being possible. For one thing,
does anyone use the All Day option and actually want it to mark the
whole day as busy?
I think we could have some radio buttons that toggled tabs with the
appropriate UI elements:
- Untimed Event (just shows start date, no time)
- Lasts for ... [duration fields show up]
- Ends at [end time fields show up]
Etc. - it'd take some work, but especially for richer clients I think
we could have a much more intuitive UI here. But all of this is beyond
the original request, which I think is functionally met now.

especially given your examples and the new "Free" state in HEAD.
someone queries your schedule. However, it still requires that you
fill in time related elements for an event. I was looking for a
toggle, that essentially turns a timed event, into a simple labeled
occurence. The event object becomes a very simple entry, with just a
date and a name, which means that a user doesn't have to be bothered
with switching the status to Free, and setting the event to all-day.
On the UI, this would have the effect of adding a No Time option to
the start time.
My cue for this is a user suggestion, and I believe their cue for it
is their Palm handheld, which has a No-Time option.

occurence, than an event (i.e. putting someone's birthday on a
calendar, or a holiday), its cumbersome to create the event, and set
all the dates and times to be identical so it takes up no time on your
calendar. It would be helpful to have a toggle between setting up a
zero-time event (an occurrence) and a timed event.
Example: let's say we celebrate April 7 for some reason. I want to
make note of that on my calendar, so I add a New Event. It defaults
to being a day_start_time start time and a day_start_time + 60 minutes
end time. I don't want it showing up on my calendar as a 1 hour event
(because its an occurence), so I have to change end time to match
start time. But it still will show up on my calendar at 6AM (my
day_start_time value). I'd like to be able to do a single click
(Zero-time event checkbox right above the date and time area) and have
it show up on my calendar, in a way similar to all day events, but
taking up no time.
