It was not php-accelerator. It wasn't even used. The problem was broken imp/config/mime_drivers.php. Somehow imp's mime_drivers.php was replaced by horde's mime_drivers.php. Sorry, my mistake.

When trying to view multipart/alternate messages IMP fails to show any of the message body parts and instead is showing the message headers as if they were the message body.
