Looks like this happens when Whups isn't installed since I'm guessing 
that's the only supported source for external data right now.

So, the question now is why doesn't it catch this and not show the 
group the first time?

When I cycle through the nag preferences through the upper right link 
in the heading line and I reach External Data >>, I am thrown back to 
preferences overview.

When I click on External Data in Nag Preferences, the box disappears 
without note.

Expected: A config opens or WSOD or some note/warning.
