That error message doesn't make sense - especially since it should 
be masked by the error_reporting() calls.  If you are seeing that 
error, there is something seriously wrong with your PHP installation.

That being said, we should fix whatever is calling that function 
with an empty charset.  If you could provide a backtrace in that 
function (using print_r(debug_backtrace()), that would be great.
Appearantly the error is solved. Cannot reproduce

If I reply to an email, I get a lot of these warnings:
