In pretty much any browser you can type the first letter of a folder
and it'll take you to the part of the select list where that folder
is. I don't see a lot of merit in putting work into that widget when
the future IMP UI is almost certainly a DIMP-like folder list, even
in the base HTML version.
At least firefox does not do that. It gets confused when you have 
folders and subfolders.

It would be very nice if the folders list on the top right of IMP 
could be searched with auto-completion. In some cases, users have a 
lot of e-mail folders and subfolders (for example, one folder per 
client) and it´s kind of hard to scroll the list through so many 
names. Having the ability to type in the name and getting the 
completed possibilities would be really great.
