This is basically a duplicate of ticket #3753. The only solution is to 
wrap the whole signature an a DIV and replace that one.

I have one signature that it still breaks on, though:

(sig-dashes on)

Something about newlines ending up on different lines and spaces being 
inserted - it's weird. Help?

If the option to compose message in html (if supported by browser) is 
selected..
and the composition is being done with the HTML..
when you switch identities it does not change the signature.
this is reproducable using IE or Firefox; apparently Safari doesnt 
support this feature.
