It doesn't do exactly what you want, but it's somewhat similar. Depending on your reaction, also note that I've never really liked the side by side stuff, especially its implementation, so having a single "Gantt" view with an adjustable granularity might be a nicer way to implement all of that. Kind of sounds like the independent free/busy view, also... maybe we can merge this in to request 2127?
