I believe 'muid' was added with the DIMP stuff:

Jan or Chuck - can you take a look at this since I don't know the 
intentions/need for this parameter - especially since a grep through 
the dimp code does not reveal the string 'muid' anywhere.

The "Save as" link in the message view returns an empty page, because 
horde/imp/view.php exits on line 83.
