This is not what the description field of calendar entries is for. 
Send an e-mail message with all kind of formatting (including HTML) 
you feel is needed and append an .ics invite instead.

mainly this came to my mind, because formatting a description like a 
table with spaces is evil and tabs don't work out of the box in the 
textfield.

Why would one want to do this? HTML in email messages already is the 
root of all evil, why would anyone want to extend this to anything but 
word processing tools? Let alone that this would be incompatible with 
any calendar standard.

would it be possible to bring the wysiwyg editor from imp to the 
description field of an event?
