If this needs to be disabled, it can easily be done so via either CSS
code or hacking the source.

Why? It doesn't do anything without a confirmation dialog, and it's
not a destructive action either.
So it is, but the stupidity of some (our) users goes far beyond
conceivable... we have some trying to delete messages selecting them
and "clicking on the trash icon" :| oh I just noticed I forgot to
stress the request affects only the traditional mode, sorry.

I understand it has a rather negligible significance, but this was
just to let you know of a feature someone (us) could be interested to.

Here at University of Trieste the administrators of the mail services
think that having the "empty mailbox" icon displayed also on inbox
folder is somewhat dangerous (for some not-so-savvy users); it would
be nice having an oprion in preferences not to show it (better,  by
default the icon could be hidden with an option to show it).

Ideally this option could be enabled separately for all
mailbox/folders, but this is just for completeness, the real
convenience is for inbox.

Thanks
